Et tu Virginia?

Bwahahahahhahahahaa. That's gonna leave a mark.
That's the Wash Post noting that Bob McDonnell has an 11 pt lead in the Virginia Governor's race.

I live in Virginia and I know two things about the gubernatorial election, the names of the candidates and that the Wash Post really, really, really doesn't like the Republican.
The Dem's ads basically just say, "The Wash Post says.... about Bob McDonnell" over and over. They'll string out three or four hit pieces from the Post one after another in each commercial.

They've heavily pushed some thesis he wrote decades ago. Even in this article the second paragraph mentions it.
"The Republican, briefly buffeted in the polls by voters' initial reaction to the publication of his 1989 graduate school thesis..."

They're going freaking crazy, don't you dolts understand he wants to make women into virtual slaves!!!! He wrote a thesis!!!!!! Voting record? Political record? No, you don't understand. The thesis. The Thesis. THE THESIS!!!!!!!!!!! you dolts!!!!

And the other organs of Minitru like WTOP the traffic radio and all the TV networks, most especially including local Fox, push it the same way. Every time they mention him they mention The Thesis. You can hear the capitalization whenever they say it.
They're all going freaking crazy that, despite all of them holding their breath, waving their pudgy little hands and banging their sippy cups on the high-chair, they couldn't macaca him and that's making me laugh, laugh, laugh.

I look forward to even more contempt and derision for voters from them next year when they'll really be going all out to keep the Dem dream alive.

Edited for grammar surprisingly enough.

1 You're not the only one with a severe case of schadenfreude, buddy.  I don't even like McDonnell but watching all of those Democratic propaganda organs as they have flailed about helplessly in their attempts to get Deeds across the finish line brought a big smile to my face every time.  Throwing him under the bus whilst still trying to sink McDonnell?  Pure bonus points.

That said, the real celebration begins when the Gray Lady and the Pravda on the Potomac shut their respective doors.

3 I know nothing about McDonnell except the Post hates him, I know Deeds plans on raising my taxes.
That's the best commercial, the one with Deeds stuttering as he's trying  not to say he'll raise taxes and failing but really making sure he doesn't say he won't raise taxes.
"I don't want to make news with this", yeah, I bet.

I also remember the current gov acting all no new taxes before he was elected and immediately talking tax increases when elected.

4 Depending on how you squint when you look at him McDonnell either looks like a RINO  or a pragmatist-he's one of the Rs that rolled over during the big tax showdown of the Warner days, after all. Either of those could mean bad things, especially when it comes to figuring out the all-hallowed transportation issue, but he's undoubtedly still a better choice than Deeds, all of which makes him very similar to a lot of other R-tards these days.  Hopefully he has some actual principles that guide him but I guess we'll just have to see whether or not he's one of those sorts.

As for Timmeh, I was a little surprised that such a lackluster candidate made it across the finish line even with Mark Warner's blessings, but then again Kilgore was pretty lackluster himself and he also paid the price for going negative.

5 He was acting all blue-doggish until after the election.

Dem candidates always do that in Virginia. They sound like rootin, tootin, tax-cutting, shootin rednecks until they "had a chance to see exactly how badly the previous admin (If it was GOP) left the state's finances so I'm gonna have to raise taxes. I have this plan...".

My favorite was Arlington voting against tax increases a few years ago. The council did everything but say, "Listen you dolts, we can spend your money better than you." and acted all surprised when they lost.

6 I don't even want to know too much about McDonnell.

The Post doesn't care, he could vote 100% the way they want and they'd still attack him because of that (R) so they're useless as a source of information.

The ads by Deeds are all pretty much just quote Minitru articles and some smaller outfits I don't know but I'm pretty sure they're not exactly conservative outlets.

Why doesn't he highlight some of the McDonnell's votes? If he needs to use hit pieces by Minitru then that gives me hope

And that's why I don't really want to know much more, if he's thought to be "electable" by the GOP, then he's most likely a McCain Republican.

It's funny, 15 years ago the GOP gave us the Contract with America and now, they're all mad that we still like that stuff.
Tools.
